Man Killed in Fremont Pedestrian Crash on Argonaut Way near Mowry Avenue
Fremont, California (December 10, 2017) – Yani Leppanen, 44, of Huntington Beach, was identified as the pedestrian who was fatally struck by a vehicle in Fremont on Friday, December 8.
According to a local news source, the accident occurred shortly before 10 a.m. on Argonaut Way near Mowry Avenue.
As per the report, the pedestrian was moving a piano from a pickup truck when he was hit by a Nissan Rouge SUV.
Leppanen sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The motorist was reportedly traveling southbound on the road when he lost control of his car and struck the pedestrian before crashing into a cargo delivery vehicle.
The driver, a 57-year-old Fremont man, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. He was also cited for DUI.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
