1 Killed and 2 Injured in Collision at Highway 99 and Laguna Boulevard
Elk Grove, California (November 14, 2017) – Tommy Jones, 26, was killed in a multi-vehicle collision, which left two other people injured, in Elk Grove on Sunday, November 12.
The fatal accident occurred at the intersection of Highway 99 and Laguna Boulevard at about 1 a.m.
Officials say, Ricardo Salas, 20, was driving his 2003 Honda when he came upon a slow moving vehicle causing him to brake suddenly. He lost control of his vehicle which then crashed into the center divider.
At the same time, Jones was riding his motorcycle on the road when he crashed into the wreckage. The motorcyclist was ejected from his motorcycle after the collision.
A short time later, a Ford which was being driven by 19-year-old Isaias Godinez also crashed into the wreckage while a 1989 Toyota driven by Rafael Martinez, 53, struck the motorcyclist who was down on the road.
Jones was pronounced dead at the scene while Salas and one passenger in the Ford were injured in the collision.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
