2 Injured in Sonora DUI Head-On Collision on Highway 49
Sonora, California (November 23, 2017) – According to a local news source, Theodore J. Phelan and one other person were injured in an alleged DUI collision involving two vehicles in Sonora on Saturday, November 18.
As per the article, the accident occurred on Highway 49 shortly before midnight.
Officials of the CHP say Theodore was traveling southbound in his Jeep Cherokee when for unknown reasons, his vehicle veered across the centerline into the northbound lanes and collided head-on with an oncoming Ford Crown Victoria operated by Michael Newton, 61, of Twain Harte.
Phelan sustained minor injuries and was taken to Adventist Health Sonora for treatment.
Newton was treated at the scene and released.
Phelan was cited for driving while intoxicated.
An investigation is ongoing.
