Sary Tuy Arrested After Fatal Whittier Pedestrian Crash on Carmenita Road
South Whittier, California (April 15, 2019) – 36-year-old Sary Tuy has been arrested on suspicion of DUI after a fatal pedestrian collision early Sunday morning in South Whittier, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatch.
The accident was reported at about 12:25 a.m. Sunday, April 14, along Carmenita Road, just south of Lakeland Avenue.
As per the report, 30-year-old Florencio Alonso was walking east across the highway when she was hit by a 2007 Toyota driven by Tuy.
Alonso suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene following the collision.
Authorities believed alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
Tuy was arrested and charged with driving while under the influence and vehicular manslaughter.
