Man Killed in Sacramento Car Crash on 51 Freeway near Elvas Avenue Identified
Sacramento, California (November 28, 2017) – Rodolfo Munoz-Garcia, 41, of Nevada, was identified as the person who was killed in a multi-vehicle collision in Sacramento on Thursday, November 23.
According to a local news source, the three-vehicle collision occurred in the southbound lanes of the 51 Freeway near Elvas Avenue at about 2:35 a.m.
According to a report by the CHP, a Jeep which was traveling on the road developed a mechanical problem forcing the driver to pull over.
Munoz-Garcia was driving his Crown Victoria when he and his passenger stopped to offer assistance to the motorist. A short time later a Ford Freestyle crashed into the stopped Jeep.
The impact of the collision pushed the Jeep forward which then struck the Jeep driver and the two men.
Munoz-Garcia sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Jeep and the passenger who was in the Victoria were injured in the collision and were rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
No further information was provided.
An investigation into the collision is underway.
