10 Injured in Hawthorne Car Crash at Marine and Prairie Avenues
Hawthorne, California (December 22, 2017) – At least ten people were injured after a police chase ended in a car crash at an intersection in Hawthorne on Thursday, December 21.
According to a local news report, the major injury crash occurred at the intersection of Marine and Prairie avenues at about 10:55 a.m.
As per the article, the police were pursuing three burglary suspects who were riding in a car. Two of the men jumped out of the getaway vehicle near the Hilton Garden Hill and fled on foot.
The driver continued before he ran a red light at an intersection and collided with a vehicle carrying four children and two adults.
The suspect’s car overturned and caught fire after the collision. The police, however, were able to extricate the driver.
Two other vehicles are reported to have been involved in the collision.
Authorities confirmed that a total of ten people including the four children were injured in the collision.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
