2 Killed and 1 Injured in Visalia Hit-and-Run Collision on State Route 99
Visalia, California (November 17, 2017) – Michelle Roberts, 30, of Johnson City, and Matthew Shipley, 23, of Jonesborough, were killed in a traffic accident in Visalia, San Joaquin on Monday, November 13.
According to a local news source, the accident occurred on State Route 99 at about 1 a.m.
According to a report by the CHP, Ashley Reed was driving her Subaru SUV southbound on the road when her vehicle was side-swiped by another vehicle. The impact of the collision caused her to lose control of her vehicle which then overturned as she was swerved to avoid the median.
Her passengers, Roberts and Shipley were killed in the collision while another passenger identified as Zachary Johnson, 22, of Gray, sustained major injuries in the collision.
Reed and three other passengers were unhurt.
Officials say the vehicle which struck them also hit another vehicle as it was fleeing the scene.
The vehicle, described as a green SUV, possibly a Chevrolet or a GMC, is yet to be located.
An investigation to determine to determine the cause of the collision is ongoing.
