Motorcyclist Killed in Bakersfield Traffic Crash at South Union Avenue
Bakersfield, California (January 14, 2018) – A motorcyclist was killed in a traffic collision Saturday morning in Bakersfield, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred just after 11 a.m. Saturday, January 13 at South Union Avenue, just near Panama Road and Taft Highway.
Troopers stated that the male motorcyclist, a man in his 20s or 30s, was headed south on Union while the driver of a Toyota pickup was headed east on Taft Highway when the incident transpired,
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
It was reported that either the male rider or the truck driver did not stop for a red light at the intersection.
Panama and Taft were shut down for some time during on-scene investigation and clearing of the scene.
The truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.
The CHP is investigating the deadly crash.
