1 Killed and Another Injured in Hawthorne Car Crash on 405 Freeway near Rosecrans Avenue
Hawthorne, California (November 19, 2017) – An elderly man was killed and his passenger injured in a head-on collision in Hawthorne on Friday, November 17.
The fatal incident occurred on the 405 Freeway near Rosecrans Avenue.
According to the CHP, the 65-year-old man was driving his 2007 Toyota when for unknown reasons his vehicle crossed the centerline into the opposite lanes and collided with a 2008 Toyota Camry.
The impact of the collision sent the Camry into the path of a freightliner. The two vehicles collided.
The man, a resident of Orange, was pronounced dead at the scene while his 34-year-old male passenger sustained major injuries and was hospitalized.
Both drivers of the Camry and the freightliner were unhurt.
An investigation is ongoing.
