Woman Killed in Upper Lake Multi-Vehicle Collision on Highway 20 Identified
Upper Lake, California (December 6, 2017) – 57-year-old Lee Ann Nelson of Lakeport was identified as the woman killed in a multi-vehicle collision on Friday, December 1.
According to a local news report, the three-vehicle collision occurred at about 4:50 p.m. on Highway 20 near Van Sleeper Road.
As per the report, Nelson was driving her 2008 KIA Rio eastbound on Highway 20 behind a 2007 Cadillac operated by 32-year-old Matthew Hansen of Wittersprings.
Another motorist, 47-year-old David Ostberg of Kelseyville attempted an illegal pass when his 2013 Honda Accord sideswiped Hansen’s car.
The initial impact caused the Honda to spin out of control and strike Nelson’s KIA.
Nelson was pronounced dead at the scene by the responding paramedics.
Osterberg sustained minor injuries while Hansen was unhurt in the collision.
According to the officials, neither speed nor impairment was a factor in the collision. It was also reported that all the occupants were wearing their seatbelts.
