Jossimar Martinez and Maximiliano Marez Hurt after Ceres Minivan Accident on Highway 99
Ceres, California (June 12, 2019) – Officials have identified two 8-year-old boys injured after a minivan collision Monday afternoon in Ceres as Jossimar Martinez, and Maximiliano Mare.
The crash happened a while after 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 10 on Highway 99 near Service Road.
As per the reports, a minivan driven by a 32-year-old Benigno Martinez Diaz with nine occupants’ rear-ended a Chevrolet Tahoe at about 45 mph in stop-and-go traffic through Ceres. The initial report showed that the minivan had a capacity of only eight passengers.
Responding emergency crews confirmed that a total of six children suffered injuries as a result of the crash. At least three of the kids suffered severe injuries and were not wearing seat belts at the time.
Jossimar Martinez and Maximiliano Mare suffered minor injuries while a 12-year-old boy and 5-year-old boy were flown to children’s hospitals for treatment of severe head injuries. The two other kids sustained injuries of unknown degree. Diaz suffered minor injuries and was wearing a seat belt.
One of the two female parties involved suffered severe injuries while the other one sustained minor hurts due to the crash. 61-year-old Joseph Volk of Georgia, the Chevrolet driver, was wearing a seat belt and was unhurt in the crash
No other information concerning this crash was provided.
An investigation is underway.
