Jose Hidalgo Arrested after Corona Hit-and-Run Pedestrian on 91 Freeway near Green River Road
Corona, California (May 14, 2019) – 48-year-old Jose Hidalgo of Corona has been arrested after a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian collision early Monday morning in Corona, according to authorities.
The accident was reported a while after 2 a.m. Monday, May 13, on 91 Freeway, just east of Green River Road.
As per the CHP officials, a 33-year-old Desiree Taitano of Riverside pulled to the shoulder of the freeway to assist a friend in another car, and whose dogs were acting up.
As Taitano was tending to her friend a passing vehicle driven by Hidalgo hit her. Taitano suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash.
Hidalgo did not stop and fled the scene after the crash. The suspect driver reportedly abandoned the car at approximately 500 feet from the accident scene and fled.
Hidalgo later contacted the officials to report the crash. Officials located and arrested him in his home on suspicion of hit-and-run.
An investigation is underway.
