1 Killed and 1 Injured in Santa Barbara Car Crash on Highway 54
Santa Barbara, California (November 18, 2017) – Jorgen W. Stufkosky, 39, was identified as the man killed in a traffic accident in Santa Barbara on Tuesday, November 14.
According to a local news source, the deadly collision occurred at about 5:30 p.m. on Highway 154 near the Santa Ynez river bridge.
As per the report, Martha Aguayo, 69, was driving her Buick LaCrosse westbound on Highway 154 when she struck a deer, tossing it to the windshield of an eastbound Ford Escape operated by 33-year-old John Stashenko IV.
The incident caused the Ford driver to lose control of the vehicle which then crossed the centerline into the westbound side of the highway and collided head-on with a 2010 Toyota Prius driven by Stufkosky.
Stufkosky sustained serious injuries and was taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday.
Stashenko sustained major injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Aguayo and her passenger were unhurt.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
