Javier Olivarez Charged for DUI Crash after Long Beach Crash at 3rd and Temple in Long Beach
Long Beach, California (May 16, 2019) – Javier Olivarez has been charged after a pursuit that ended into a crash Tuesday last week in the area of Long Beach, according to authorities.
The collision occurred a while before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, at 3rd and Temple.
As per the report, a police chase began at the intersection of Broadway and Alamitos and ended when Olivarez collided with an SUV driven by Jessica Bingaman at 3rd and Temple.
Responding emergency crews extricated Bingaman and five dogs who were pinned in the SUV. Bingaman was rushed to a local hospital where she later died.
The dogs also died in the collision.
Jessica was reportedly driving to a dog park with six dogs at the time of the crash.
Olivarez was not hurt in the crash. He was driving a car that had been reported stolen the previous night.
Officials arrested and charged him with felony DUI, manslaughter and evading police.
The suspect facing nine felony counts and is scheduled to appear in court Thursday in Dept. S1, Long Beach Courthouse, 275 Magnolia Avenue.
Olivarez is charged with one count each of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, fleeing a pursuing peace officer’s vehicle causing death and driving or taking a car without consent, along with six counts animal cruelty, according to the Los Angeles District Attorneys’ Office.
An investigation is ongoing.
