1 Killed and 1 Injured in Gardena Pedestrian Accident on 135th Street
Gardena, California (November 24, 2017) – Heather Marie Estrada, 25, was identified as the pedestrian who was killed in a collision in Gardena, Los Angeles, on Thursday, November 16.
According to a local news source, the pedestrian accident was reported at about 7 p.m. on 135th Street.
Estrada is reported to have been crossing the road when an eastbound Toyota Camry hit her. She was then ran over by a Nissan Altima.
According to a statement by the officials, a male pedestrian who had attempted to render aid to the injured pedestrian was struck by a Lincoln Towncar.
Estrada was rushed to County Harbor-UCLA Medical Center for treatment. Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries a short time later.
The man is reported to have sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized in the same facility.
Meanwhile, authorities confirmed that the driver of the Altima initially drove away after the accident but returned to the scene and cooperated with the authorities. However, the driver of the Camry sped off after the striking the woman and is yet to be located.
An investigation is underway.
