Hakiam Cooper and Hodari Cooper Jr. ID’d as Two Brothers Killed in Bakersfield Car Accident near 7th Standard Road and Magnolia Avenue
Bakersfield, California (July 13, 2018) – The two brothers who were killed Wednesday morning in a head-on collision in Bakersfield have been identified as Hakiam Cooper, 13, and Hodari Toussaint Cooper Jr., 20, both of Martinez, according to California Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash happened at around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 11 near the intersection of Standard Road and Magnolia Avenue.
According to the CHP, Cooper Jr. was operating a white Dodge Charger traveling eastbound on 7th Standard Road when his vehicle veered into the westbound lane and collided head-on with a semi-truck.
Cooper Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene. His sibling, Cooper, who was a passenger in the Charger, was transported to Kern Medical, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Two other passengers were transported to the hospital. Their names and conditions were not immediately disclosed. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
