Gerald Fruichantie ID’d Man killed in Santa Clarita Accident on Highway 14 near Golden Valley Road
Santa Clarita, California (April 17, 2019) – The man who was killed in pedestrian crash on Friday night in Santa Clarita has been identified by police as Gerald Fruichantie, 61, according to a local news report.
The crash was reported at about 9:15 p.m. April 12, on northbound Highway 14 south of Golden Valley Road.
Investigating officers said Fruichantie was walking northbound on the right shoulder of highway 14, just south of Golden Valley Road. Fruichantie was then seen walking in the slow lane on the Highway.
A 2002 Honda Accord, driven by a 25-year-old Tustin man, was on northbound Highway 14 to the Golden Valley Road off-ramp. The driver attempted to avoid striking the Fruichantie by steering left but unfortunately, he struck him.
Fruichantie was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Honda was arrested.
The crash remains under investigation.
