Florencio Alonso ID’d as Woman Killed in South Whittier Crash on Carmenita Road near Lakeland Avenue
South Whittier, California (April 15, 2019) – Authorities have identified the woman who was struck and killed by a vehicle on early Sunday morning in South Whittier as Florencio Alonso, 30, according to a police report.
The crash took place at about 12:25 a.m. April 14, on Carmenita Road just south of Lakeland Avenue.
The California Highway Patrol said Alonso was walking east across the highway when a 2007 Toyota struck her.
Alonso was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Police said alcohol or drugs were suspected as the factors that caused the crash.
The driver involved in the accident was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence and vehicular manslaughter.
The crash is under investigation.
