Girl Killed in Merced Pedestrian Accident at R and 18th Streets
Merced, California (December 6, 2017) – Dayveonna Polk was identified as the girl who was killed in a suspected hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Monday, December 4.
According to a local news source, the accident happened at around 3:40 p.m. at the intersection at R and 18th streets.
Authorities reported that Dayveonna Polk was walking in a crosswalk with her mother and three other children when she was hit by a car which was making a turn at the intersection.
The driver fled the scene and left the 3-year-old unresponsive on the roadway.
The girl was airlifted Valley Children’s Hospital. Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday.
Officials are yet to locate the involved vehicle, described as a late 90s purple Honda Accord with a raised tail fin and tinted windows.
An investigation into this incident is still ongoing.
