Boy Killed and Girl Injured in Long Beach Bicycle Accident at Woodruff Avenue and Conant Street
Long Beach, California (November 12, 2017) – A boy was killed and his sister injured in an accident in Long Beach on Thursday, November 9.
According to a local news release, the bicycle accident occurred at the intersection of Woodruff Avenue and Conant Street, shortly before 4 p.m.
Authorities say the two children were riding their bicycles home from school when they were struck by a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban in a crosswalk at the intersection.
The two children, students of Marshall Academy of the Arts, sustained serious injuries and were rushed to a local hospital in critical condition.
Unfortunately, the boy, a seven grader, succumbed to his injuries. His sister, however, was reported to be in a stable condition.
The identity of the victims was not immediately established.
No information on the driver of the vehicle was provided.
An investigation to determine the circumstances of the collision is ongoing.
