Boy Injured in Merced Pedestrian Accident at Loughborough Drive and R Street
Merced, California (November 18, 2017) – A 9-year-old boy was injured after being struck by a vehicle in Merced on Thursday, November 16, according to a local news release.
The pedestrian accident occurred at about 3:11 p.m. in the area of Loughborough Drive and R Street.
As per the article, the boy had been walking on the sidewalk before he was struck by a vehicle as he stepped on the roadway to avoid a flooded gutter on the sidewalk.
The boy was pinned underneath the car and was rescued by officials of the Merced City Fire Department before he was transported to Valley Children’s Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
The motorist, 84-year-old Richard Petrick, remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.
An investigation is ongoing.
