5 Injured in Bakersfield 2-Car Collision at Niles Street and Union Avenue
Bakersfield, California (December 17, 2017) – At least five people including a Sheriff’s deputy were injured in a car accident in Bakersfield on Saturday, December 16.
The two-vehicle collision occurred at about 1:15 p.m. at the intersection of West Niles Street and Union Avenue.
According to a local news release, a Kern County Sheriff’s deputy was driving a patrol car westbound on Niles Street when he collided with an SUV which was traveling south on Union Avenue.
The deputy and two occupants of the SUV were injured in the collision.
Two pedestrians who were near the scene of the collision were also injured after being struck by the debris.
All the five victims were hospitalized with unspecified injuries.
An investigation to establish the cause of the accident is ongoing.
